Dear Marist Regional College Families,
Hoping all is well in your world? The College is certainly a busy place and Term Three is no exception. No doubt our Senior College students are aware of what is ahead of them with the conclusion of the academic year approaching them. I have just had two students in my office this afternoon, one discussing the prospects of an overseas, fully-funded scholarship. Uncertainty still surrounds the decision making of this student, but an exciting time nevertheless!
College Improvement Surveys
Have you completed our College Survey which was launched last Monday morning? Please search your “junk mail” for an email from jwilliams@mrc.tas.edu.au with a clear subject: Parent School Improvement Survey Invitation.
To encourage a greater response rate, I would like to offer a lucky member of our community a $50 voucher at a local business of your choice! Please complete this survey as it will enable an incumbent Principal an opportunity to work with the team using the data collected, from students, staff, and families. It is important that we receive a strong response to enhance the validity of our data.
Personal Thanks
I would like to take the opportunity to thank those of you who reached out to me after my resignation announcement last week, effective 31 December 2024. I have enjoyed both planning strategically and delivering for the future, along with embracing the challenges as opportunities during the last five years. All of these have been achieved collaboratively; with staff, students, and families. Without your support and spirit of partnership, we may not have been able to achieve together what has been undertaken. Thank you for your generous and kind words.
Today marks five years since the passing of former Principal, Mr Adrian Drane. Adrian was a fine person who cared deeply about his leadership vocation and the impact he was able to have on young people from the region.
Whilst I was a Principal of college feeder schools, Adrian was only too happy to engage with me in relation to prospective students from St Peter Chanel Catholic School in Smithton, and St Brigid’s Catholic School, Wynyard, with a goal to create strong bonds in Catholic Education within this northwest region. The signs at the entrance points of our school, both at the main entrance and the Futuna Avenue entrance, signified Adrian’s commitment to this cause. A fine person, gone too soon. May Adrian rest in peace. Our prayers are with his family, Sue, Mitch and Zoe at this time.
Kind thoughts,
Gregg Sharman
Principal
