Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we come to the end of a full and fruitful Term 1, we take a moment to reflect on the significance of Easter. At the heart of the Easter story is the message of sacrifice and selflessness – values that lie at the core of our Christian tradition and continue to inspire the way we live, learn, and serve in our College community. Just as Christ gave of Himself for the good of others, we are called to consider how we might embody that same spirit in our relationships, our actions, and our everyday encounters.
In this same spirit, we also pause to remember and honour the sacrifice of the men and women who have served our country, as we prepare to mark ANZAC Day during the school holiday break. The themes of service, courage, and selflessness that we reflect on at Easter are mirrored in the stories of those who gave their lives for the freedoms we enjoy today. These moments of national and spiritual reflection help to ground our young people in a deeper understanding of gratitude, empathy, and service.
This week, we farewell Ms Neaton, our Director of Middle School, who finishes up on Friday. Ms Neaton has been a passionate advocate for student and staff wellbeing and has brought a vibrant, upbeat energy to her role every day. Her leadership, care, and dedication have made a lasting impact on our school community, especially within the Middle School team. We thank Maxine for all she has contributed and wish her all the very best in the next chapter of her journey. She will be greatly missed!
Over the past fortnight, students have embraced a range of opportunities to learn, lead, and shine. I had the pleasure of joining the MSA Basketball tournament in Melbourne, where our Girls team won the Plate, and our Boys placed fourth—both showing great spirit and sportsmanship. Our NSATIS Boys and Girls Tennis teams also claimed victory in their finals against Launceston Church Grammar and now head to Hobart for the SATIS finals. Beyond sport, students took part in speech and maths competitions, a vibrant music concert, and a number of excursions. Our SRC members also supported Year 7 student leaders through a valuable mentoring program, further enriching our culture of connection and growth. These experiences are vital in helping students build confidence, develop teamwork and leadership skills, and apply their learning in real-world contexts—preparing them to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.
In preparing for the future of our College, we recently visited St Peter Chanel, Smithton, and St Joseph’s in Queenstown and Rosebery to speak with students and families about Year 7 enrolments for 2026. It is always encouraging to connect with our wider community and share the opportunities that await students as they transition to secondary schooling. We also held a second enrolment information evening on Tuesday, providing another opportunity for families to learn more about life at our College.
2026 enrolment applications close on 2nd May. If you know someone who is interested, please encourage them to submit their application on time. As with last year, we anticipate more applications than available places, and Year 7 positions will be limited.
As we conclude the Term, I want to acknowledge the hard work and achievements of our students, staff, and families. Whether in the classroom, on the sporting field, or within the community, your contributions have helped shape a positive and productive start to the year.
Wishing all families a safe, restful, and enjoyable two-week holiday break. We look forward to welcoming students back refreshed and ready for Term 2.
