Back to all news

As we come to the end of another busy term, it is appropriate to take time to reflect on the past ten weeks.

It has been great to see the popularity and uptake of Breakfast Club increase as the term has progressed. It adds an extra sense of welcoming to the College in the mornings, especially as the days have gotten colder. Thanks to our students and staff who have given up their time to give out countless milos and spread multiple pieces of toast!

A number of our students have been out and about in the community – and we have loved being able to connect in various ways.

Our Vinnies Coat Drive was a big success, with a huge amount of donations received – thank you! These have been passed on and will hopefully be keeping others warm very soon.

We’ve also been continuing our mentor program at North West Support School, which has been such a joy to see the relationships start to develop with our Year 12 mentors and the student mentees. We are planning to invite our mentees up to the College for activities and a shared lunch at the end of Term 3.

Another group of Year 12s have been visiting Stella Maris each fortnight to help out their classes. It’s been great to be able to spend time with younger students and learn from each other.

Dining with Friends has continued at Somerset Vinnies Community Hub every second Thursday. Music, games, laughter and even some gardening has been keeping us all entertained whilst other students assist with the preparation and serving of lunch.

The spirit of community is alive and well! If you have opportunities that you think our students could benefit from being involved with, feel free to get in touch with me via email.
