It has been a busy start to the year at Marist Regional College. We would like to thank all involved in the Commencement Mass and Ash Wednesday liturgies that were largely organised by our SRC.

We are excited by the large number of students who are interested in being involved in extra-curricular activities this year. We have several events in the ‘pipeline’ for the Youth Ministry space, including Relay for Life (27-28 March), which we have had over 50 students express an interest in, and the Smith Family Student 2 Student Reading Program. Our Breakfast Club will commence during Term Two, where students can take advantage of the toast in the mornings, and also can assist with the logistics of serving the breakfasts.

Our Year 12 Religious Education classes have begun making plans for their ‘Inspiring Change’ classes, which will see over 100 students engage with the local community through associations with the Vinnies Community Hub in Somerset, the North West Support School, Stella Maris and the volunteer-led organisation Grow, Gather, Give.

Year 11s are also given the opportunity to engage with the local community, through the course ‘Community Service Learning’, and will undertake 30 hours of community service over the year.

We look forward to bringing you updates throughout the year.

Mrs Emily Sass
