On Friday 12 May, Year 8’s went to Fossil Bluff in Wynyard to explore the cliff face and fossils as part of the Geology unit.

Mrs Scott did an amazing job talking about the glacial effect that would have caused the tillite layer at the bottom of the bluff, whilst the sandstone would have been created by the ocean rising over that area compounding the sand into sandstone. It was interesting to learn about how the Table Cape volcano would have spread the basalt to form the top layer and how fertile it was, which is why there was so much growth. We loved looking at all the fossils and appreciating the rock formations.
