This week the Packages of Learning class attended Grange Resources Mine at Savage River for a work exposure experience.

Students were fully briefed on the mine’s operation from Savage River Mine to its Concentration Plant, and then 83km by pipeline to Port Latta where Magnetite Iron Ore is pelletised and loaded onto ships for export to China and Korea.

The mine will soon be looking for apprentices in Fitting/Turning, Boilermaker/Welding, Diesel Mechanical, Electrical, and Auto Electrical occupations. Students were also presented with opportunities to engage in work placements at Savage River and Port Latta, with the company paying for all expenses, including travel and accommodation. Several students have indicated they will take up this awesome opportunity during their school holidays.

Thanks to Declan Finnegan at Grange for giving our students an outstanding guided tour and information workshop.
