Australian Geography Competition 

Students tested their Geographical skills and knowledge against students from all around Australia in the 2024 Australian Geography Competition. We had a number of students participating with 6 students receiving High Distinctions; 7 receiving Distinctions and 13 receiving Credits. We also had one student achieve in the Top 1% of results for their age group.  

High Distinctions 

Year 7: Charles Brown 

Year 8: Alexander Williams 

Year 9: Edward Terry & George Weeks   

Year 7: Rhys Williams received a High Distinction. He also wins a prize for being the First in Tasmania. 

Year 12: Penny Tassicker received the award for being in the Top 1% of the nation-wide contest and she receives a prize for being the First in Tasmania. 

 Australian History Competition 

The Australian History Competition was held on 29 May. In the lead-up to this, all classes completed a trial quiz, with the top 3 from each class being invited to compete in the Australia-wide competition. The following students received outstanding results: 

Year 7: Thomas Spencer – High Distinction 

Year 8: Cooper Henricks – High Distinction 

Year 10: Angus Krisenthal – High Distinction 

 

French and History Trip 

Thanks to everyone for your generous support of the French & History Trip fundraising, by supporting our first French Food Stall on Tuesday 27 August, buying some freddos, or coming along to our Trivia Night on Thursday 29 August. The funds raised by these activities will go towards supporting the cost of some of the activities undertaken by students attending the French & History Trip in the upcoming school holidays.  

A reminder that there is one more French Food Stall on Monday 2 September! 

  

Japanese Calligraphy Competition 

A big congratulations to the prize winners from the Japanese Calligraphy Competition held earlier in the year: 

Year 8: Macey – 2nd prize on High School Pen Section 

Senior College: Zoe – 1st prizes on SC Pen and Brush Sections 

Shannon – 2nd prize on SC Pen section.
