Academic Catch Up Room: Update to our process for notifying parents & students

At the beginning of the year, we communicated our new processes to support students to complete and submit work on or before the due date.

The processes include:

  1. A process for responding when work is not submitted on the due date
  2. Applying for an extension process

We are writing to inform you of an important update to our process for notifying you when a student is required to attend the Academic Catch-Up Room (ACU) for work not submitted by the due date.

Going forward, when a student needs to attend the ACU, the teacher will log this requirement on Marist e-Learning (MEL). Both students and parents will then automatically receive a notification of this entry directly through MEL.

The purpose of the Academic Catch-Up Room is to provide additional time and support for students to complete and/or submit overdue assessments. This is intended as a supportive gesture rather than a disciplinary one.

Marist e-Learning and Login

MEL is our learning management system, parent portal and notification system. All families should ensure that they have access to MEL and their passwords are up to date as this is where you are able to receive online continuous feedback regarding your child’s learning journey, notifications and reports. It is an expectation of our families that you check this regularly.

Access to MEL is via https://mel.mrc.tas.edu.au/ or the MEL app that you are able to download for a more accessible way to view MEL.

Your username is in the format of surname.firstname. If required, your password can be reset from the MEL login page (you need a valid mobile number & email address on record with the school to do this).

If you have not already downloaded the MEL app on your mobile device, we highly recommend this for easy access.

We believe this update in our process will improve efficiency, enhance communication, and help ensure that everyone stays informed about important deadlines and requirements.
