Back to all news

Book Week is a great opportunity for us to celebrate all things related to books and reading. It is vital that our students come to recognise that reading is enjoyable, not just essential for their education. Book Week allows students to see that many of their peers and staff actually do a lot of reading and enjoy it! Students need positive role models in this area more than ever.

There are a variety of activities, both in and out of class, that Middle Years students could participate in for Book Week this year:

Class Book Tally

Congratulations to 7E for having the highest tally in Year 7 with 904 books, and to 8C for having the highest tally in Year 8 with 1034 books.

The overall reading tally for each year level and Middle Years as a whole is very impressive! This is a fantastic effort from all Middle Years students.

Book Week Bingo

Congratulations to the following classes for successfully completing all squares in Book Week Bingo:

Costume Photo booth

From Chicken Divas and Crayons, to Spiderman and Little Red Riding Hood, our photo booth was alive with a myriad of characters to celebrate Book Week. A fantastic effort from both staff and students.

Congratulations to our Book Week Costume winners for 2020:

Class Trivia Challenge

On Wednesday, 21 October, students in Year 7 and 8 enjoyed being challenged with some book trivia. Each class nominated three representatives to answer the questions in the quiz.

With questions like….

In the Mr Men series, what is the secret of Mr Strong’s strength?

…and….

What is the name of the golden object that Harry Potter must catch during Quidditch?

…students had to really get their brains ticking over to score points.

A big thank you to all students who participated.

Dramatic Readings and Book Trailer Video Competitions

Entries are in and the judging will commence soon. Winners will be announced in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned!
