Back to all newsNational Science Week is celebrated annually across Australia in August. This year Marist Regional College has a range of activities planned to celebrate the event. The first of these was a visit from Young Tassie Scientists Ash Russell (Bioinformatician), Angus Olding (Chemist), Hannah Coombe (Neuroscientist) and Jennie Smith (Marine Scientist) who put on a fun, interactive session for students on Tuesday, 24 August. Students heard all about the exploits of Burke and Hare from Ash’s stories of the early days of anatomy, they learnt how to make ‘chunky milk’ and more with Angus, heard all about nourishing those vital brain cells from Hannah, and got a heads-up on deep sea diving from Jennie. Never one to miss out on the action, Mrs Scott, got geared up for the occasion! The College extends its thanks to UTAS for this great opportunity to inform students about exciting careers in the STEM field.
