“None of us is as smart as all of us.”

What a great reminder to us all to work as team players. In the Middle School, we try to focus daily on what we can achieve by working together. The students and staff provide hospitality towards one another to find the best solution when challenges arise. It takes different perspectives and personalities to share ideas and decide on the best course of action moving forward. Let’s wrap our arms around those who need some extra love and support over the coming weeks.

I wish all our Year 7’s well as they venture off to camp next week. I look forward to sharing some time at Riverbend throughout the week. I thank our Year 8 students, who have settled well in our McAuley space; keep up this great effort!

Director of Middle School

Throughout this past fortnight, our staff have had the opportunity to discuss the expectations of uniform, behaviour, and values with students. The key points raised regarding uniform have been students not wearing their blazers home and, in some cases, dresses and skirts deemed to be too short.  If the weather is deemed to be warm, an announcement at the conclusion of the day will notify students that the blazer is not required to be worn home. Below is a snapshot of what is in the current Student Uniform and Personal Presentation Policy.

Blazer: The College blazer is a compulsory part of the uniform. It must be worn to and from school every day and to all assemblies and official College events. During the school day, the blazer need not be worn.

Academic Uniform: The formal academic uniform must be worn to and from school every day. Students must change in to and out of the sports uniform before and at the end of the timetabled HPE lessons and/or any lesson when the sports uniform is required. Students representing the College at sporting events may be permitted to wear the appropriate representative sports uniform, as advised by the College. Any time that a student is wearing the College uniform, it must be worn fully and correctly, this includes before and after school, including when in town.

Dresses and Skirts: Must be an appropriate length. A good guide is one hand width above the knee. Any dresses or skirts deemed to be too short will be required to be adjusted in a timely fashion.

Another item of relevance for students and their families is staying safe online. The following website https://www.esafety.gov.au/ provides some fabulous information to support parents in ensuring that their child stays safe online and what to do if someone is experiencing issues online from others.

Yours in partnership,
