Director of Middle School
“How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
As I say goodbye, I want to express my sincere gratitude for the time I have shared with Marist Regional College staff, students, families and the community.
Being here has had such a positive impact on my life. Each encounter has been a true blessing, and I’ll cherish the memories I have made together with you all. I believe Tasmania to be Australia’s best kept secret, and it’s the people who make it magic. I have so many wonderful memories from my time and adventures here.
Last week, I got to address the Middle School in an assembly; my final one as Director of Middle School. It was so rewarding standing there to witness such respect from the students in our care. I thank them for their hard work and determination, and I wish them all the best for the remainder of the year and into the future, and my hope is for our paths to one day cross again.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a heartfelt THANK YOU, to everyone who has made me feel welcomed and supported in my many roles at the College. I believe teaching truly is a vocation. It has been an absolute pleasure working at Marist Regional College alongside so many dedicated professionals over the years. The most rewarding part of my job was the daily interactions with the young people who I learnt from and laughed with every day. Although I am sad making such a decision to leave, I know in my heart that family must come first.
Wishing you all the very best for the remainder of the year, God bless. Bye!
Ms Maxine Neaton

Director of Senior School
As we bring about a close to a very busy Term 1, I wish to commend our fabulous Marist community on its engagement, work ethic and strong culture to try and be the best version of themselves. Whether it’s rising to the challenge at the Swimming or Athletics Carnival, managing workloads in and out of school, or meeting uniform expectations, our students have been able to rise to the occasion and should be proud of their efforts.
Whilst as a collective we continue to work with a small handful of students who need reminders, we are grateful to those students who have assisted the staff in helping their peers. We’ve had some students finding it difficult to navigate their way through high school life and seeing their peers support, guide, and nurture them has been inspiring for all of us.
As we transition into Term 2, students begin wearing winter uniform. It is paramount students try on their uniform prior to the term starting to ensure everything still fits comfortably since last year. One key reminder is that shirts should be tucked in, and ties should be worn correctly and with pride.
As a staff, we continue to learn how to best support our students and their families. Recently, through The Resilience Program, we had the pleasure of listening to a facilitator who shared how to best showcase Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness through Emotional Literacy. This program (particularly on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s) helps to build upon our school values and showcases positive examples of students overcoming adversity and challenges. More information is in the visual below.
Finally, I wish to farewell and thank Maxine Neaton for her fabulous work in the role of Director of Middle School. Maxine’s understanding, leadership, and skillset has been a huge asset to our College. Maxine, we wish you all the best with your future endeavours with your family.
Yours in partnership,
Mr Aaron Humphrey
