NSATIS Basketball and Tennis rosters have continued for our students over the past couple of weeks, with the Girls 1sts basketballers maintaining their unbeaten run this season heading into the last couple of roster matches.

Boys and Girls 2nds basketballers will soon compete in Semi Finals after having some solid results. The Boys 1sts had a fantastic 1 point win over Launceston Christian School in a great match of school basketball.

In the tennis, the Boys team are also undefeated heading into the final two rounds of matches and will look to continue their strong form against Grammar.

On Tuesday March 10th, our NSATIS Swimming team represented the College exceptionally well with some great results during the day. This was highlighted by Aviva Ross with wins in the 50m freestyle and backstroke and Millie McGregor who took out the 50m breaststroke. “A big congratulations to Year 11 student Aydan Hogan who claimed 1st place in the Multi-Class event and also set a new NSATIS record.”

All competitors on the day gave 100% and their participation was fantastic, with a number of these students now preparing for the SATIS Swimming Carnival in Hobart on March 26th. A busy couple of weeks coming up, with the High School Surf League Carnival at Preservation Bay on March 17th before our MSA Basketball teams head to Adelaide on Sunday March 22nd for their carnival, best of luck to all students!

As you are likely aware by now, the MSA Basketball Carnival in Adelaide has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak.

This decision has been made by the Marist Schools Sports Committee in consultation with Diocesan education authorities across the country, many of whom have placed restrictions on school-associated interstate travel.

Whilst this is disappointing for our students and families, it has been made in the best interests of the players, staff and supporters health given the current situation across not only Australia but the world.

I understand a number of our MRC families have booked trips based around the carnival, and may still wish to travel to Adelaide. If this is the case can you please let me know ASAP as I am in the process of cancelling many aspects of the trip including flights and accommodation.

I will be in touch further once we receive more information from the Marist Sports Committee.
