NSATIS Sport
Our NSATIS Boys and Girls 1st Tennis teams played their NSATIS grand final on Wednesday last week, taking on Launceston Church Grammar at the Burnie Tennis Centre.
Our boys team opened with crucial wins in both doubles matches, before carrying their form into the singles, taking out the title 5 rubbers to 1. The girls game mirrored their round match up from earlier in the season, with a very close tussle, ending 3 rubbers all. This left it down to games, with some hard-fought points proving the difference for our girls, who took the title 45 games to 43.
Both teams will now travel to Hobart to take on Hutchins (Boys) and St Marys (Girls) on the 1st May. We wish both teams the best of luck, we know you will do the College proud.
Term 2 sports will begin in Week 1, with some schedules still being finalised. Please keep an eye on emails from Consent2Go, which will provide more information including schedules.
MSA Basketball
Our MSA Basketball teams returned this week after their weeklong Marists Schools Association Basketball Tournament in Melbourne. Both teams battled strong competition throughout.
The boys team ended the pool rounds seeded in the 2nd division, where they continued with some close match ups to finish 3rd, after a late comeback and overtime win sealed them the bronze.
The girls team pool match results saw them seeded in the 2nd division also, where they finished strongly to go undefeated through the finals and win the Women’s Plate title.
Congratulations to the following students who received awards:
MRC MVPs Hudson Boxhall and Maya Davies
MRC Spirit Awards Zander Williams and Layla Oliver
The tournament also selects a Marist X, representing the players voted as the best 10 boys and girls across the tournament from all colleges. Congratulations to Maya Davies who was awarded a jersey for selection in the team.
