Our NSATIS Basketball teams continue to compete in their busy Term 1 competitions.

The Girls 1sts Basketball sit at 2 wins, 2 losses at the halfway point of matches. Two wins have been over Launceston Grammar, with losses to St Patricks and Scotch Oakburn. The Boys 1sts Basketball have a 4-1 record and sit top of their ladder, with the Boys 2nds Basketball having 3 wins and 2 losses so far in a very even competition. Thank you to those parents who volunteered to score at the recent NSATIS Launceston Basketball Tournament.

The Tennis teams continued their successful start to the year with all teams remaining undefeated through 2 rounds. In the second round the Boys 1sts defeated St Patricks 5-1, Boys 2nds defeated St Brendan Shaw 6-0 and the Girls 1sts defeated St Patricks in a forfeit.

House pride will be at the forefront of the next few weeks with the College’s upcoming Swimming Carnivals at the Burnie Aquatic Centre on Thursday 23 February for the Juniors, and Friday 24 February for the Seniors. Shortly following, the Athletics Carnival will take place on Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 March. Students who achieve 1st or 2nd place results in the carnivals will be selected to represent MRC at the upcoming NSATIS regional carnivals.

Netball trials for Year 7 to 10 girls who wish to represent MRC in the Saturday BNA competition have recently concluded and teams will be released shortly. A number of teams still require coaches (per competition guidelines). If you are available to volunteer to coach a team, please contact Shania Saward: ssaward@mrc.tas.edu.au
