Congratulations to our Girls 1st Tennis team, who last week won the NSATIS Championship, with a convincing win over Scotch Oakburn College, 6 rubbers to 0. The girls had an amazing NSATIS competition, only dropping 1 match for the whole season. The team has won 5 of the last 6 NSATIS Championships. I would like to thank Mrs Amanda Johnstone for her assistance in coordinating the team.

The team will head to Hobart in Term 2, along with our winning Boys 1st Tennis and Boys 1st Basketball teams to take on the champion southern schools, and fight for the SATIS Championship. Good luck to all teams.

Mother Nature was not on our side with the NSATIS Athletics Carnival on Tuesday 28 March called off. A team of 60-strong students and staff will head along to Launceston to the SATIS Athletics event on Tuesday 4 April.

Our MSA Basketball boys completed their trip in Adelaide. The team ended with a record of 3 wins and 4 losses. All losses were 14 and under in close battles that could have gone either way. Congratulations to Finn Peach (Champagnat Award for Sportsmanship) and Jayce Little (Team MVP and Shooting Guard in the All Star 5). Thank you to Mr Samuel Johnstone and Mr Grant Sims for accompanying the team.

SATIS (Boys), NSATIS (Girls) and NWJFU (Boys) Football start in early term 2. The school has taken sign-ups for these teams, and information will be circulated to parents shortly. We are awaiting further information about NWJFU (Girls) and hoping to have this out to interested students soon.

If any parents are interested in assisting the football teams (from coaching roles through to umpiring), please contact Mr Lutwyche.

Finally, I would like to acknowledge and thank all of the school staff who have taken time out of their busy schedules to assist in promoting and delivering sporting opportunities for our students in Term 1.

Mr Thomas Lutwyche
