The Swags for Salvos event night to raise money for the Salvation Army was a great success. Not only was there a great turn out, but the night ran better than expected having a series of line and partner dances, drinks from the bar, a selection of both hot and cold food available as well as the main event of the night, the raffles. With a large amount of quality prizes on offer, staff and guests were excited to purchase tickets to have a chance at winning hamper packs, gift vouchers, a load of wood, a DVD projector and even a ukulele, but they were also willing to donate towards the cause of swags for homeless people. As the night drew to a close, together we raised an estimated $1800 from raffle tickets, door entry and additional donations from staff members. The event would not have been able to be as successful if it was not for the help from all the staff and students who assisted on the night, but also the contribution from everyone who made donations towards this cause and those who showed up to support the night greatly attributed to the event. We thank everyone who showed their support and hopefully this event will be bigger and even better next year.

I would like to personally thank our wonderful Year 12 students for taking on this fundraiser to help them with their Year 12 Religion task in Inspiring Change.  I hope all the students benefitted from the event management to prepare for the evening. They were wonderful on the night and all of the feedback received was also very positive.

I would also like to thank Danny Haines for his tireless work organising many of the items for the raffle as well as organising many of the guests on the evening.  Without this effort we would not have been able to hold the event and the raffle would have been non-existent too.  We appreciate your work here Danny and look forward to seeing some of your dance moves over the years here at the College.  I would also like to thank Marisa Licandro, Jen Reeves and our senior VET Hospitality students for their effort on the night and leading up to the night.  Without your help we would not have got the evening off the ground and would not have had a chance to raise the funds we were after for the swags.  Thanks again your help was greatly appreciated.  Lastly, thanks to all of the staff that supported the evening too. It is lovely to see staff get behind these functions and support other staff who are organising and students who are running events such as these.  You do not go unnoticed when you support these events.  We look forward to holding this event next year in Term 3.

Have a restful and safe holiday and I look forward to seeing you all in Term 4.
