Marist has engaged in a strategic alliance with UTAS Riawunna Centre (Cradle Coast Campus) to reshape the concept of university as more acceptable, accessible, and ‘inevitable’ for Marist’s First Nation students. By increasing access to UTAS, it is hoped activities that explore career paths in a fun and engaging way will mitigate the perceived obstacles many First Nation students experience, particularly those without university graduate family members.

Activities operate on a two-year rotating calendar utilising a one-day event with Year 7 and 8 First Nation students. This year, students circulated through activities delivered by drone, VR, and robotic teams as well as a STEM project, cultural walk along the foreshore, and a presentation on traditional jewellery practices. Future programs will incorporate activities delivered by a variety of faculties offering fun introductions to Medicine, Sciences & Engineering, Arts, Law, Environmental Sciences and Technology.
