Our Indigenous students participate annually in the RISE program (Residential Indigenous STEM Experience) with the University of Melbourne. In previous years they have travelled to Melbourne for the event, accompanied by Marist Indigenous Leader, Mrs Rachael Koop. However, COVID restrictions have necessitated a ‘virtual event’ for 2020. This took place on 1 – 2 Dec, allowing four students to join like-minded Indigenous students from around Australia, and interacting with scientists to learn more about the principles and real-world applications of cutting-edge science.
Team Marist had an exciting, engaging and fun time. The team comprised of Hayley, Arlo, Trinity and Molly (and missed Kezia, due to illness) and were guided by Mrs Koop, Ms Burke and Mr Holwill.
