Welcome to the Marist Regional College website. It is hoped that through your access to this resource, you are able to gain insight into the gifts that our College can provide students, families, staff and the wider community.

As a former Marist Regional College student, I have fond memories of Catholic Education beginning as a Prep student at Sacred Heart Catholic School, Ulverstone in 1984. My initial reflections center on the sacrifices my mother made to ensure her three sons received a quality education in our Catholic tradition. My mother’s financial situation required our family to receive fee support and I am grateful to our College’s administration for their encouragement and partnership all those years ago. These opportunities for support still exist today for all families.

Again in reflection, I give thanks for the commitment and investment that Marist Regional College staff made in how they were able to support my achievement and personal development. The College’s culture has a long standing diversity that enabled my brothers and I various experiences, that both challenged and engaged, allowing outstanding opportunities for our holistic development.

Now as an experienced Principal, I understand that every student and their family contributes to the narrative of a school community.  Your child has an opportunity to make a positive difference, building a brilliant future founded in the spirit of our College.

If you are new to Marist Regional College, we share something in common as I begin my Principalship in 2020. I’ve been asking people about the best attributes of the College. One of the first points mentioned is usually the College’s exceptional facilities, on a beautiful site that covers more than 17 hectares overlooking Bass Strait.

Yes, the facilities are outstanding. There is no doubting this. However, it is the quality of the people, our spirit, relationships and culture that define us in Catholic Education. Our College values of hospitality, respect, justice, compassion and responsibility determine how we think, interact and pursue a better future together.

The culture of the College has a focus on personal excellence, as we work with students and their families to discern their unique and varied pathways, assisting them to achieve their potential in whatever field they choose.

Graduates of Marist excel in a wide variety of fields including tertiary studies, apprenticeships and direct employment. I have a deep respect for the staff and the expertise they possess to support your child’s learning.

Positioned centrally in Burnie, we service the north-west coast of Tasmania. Our students are drawn from Ulverstone through to Circular Head and beyond. As a truly regional college, work closely with our Catholic “feeder” primary schools to successfully transition students, as well as those from other school systems who wish to join our community.

I invite you to navigate our website and contact our Registrar for any assistance. Regular school tours are held throughout the year or you may choose to have a personal tour at a time that suits you.

I look forward to welcoming you to our College and building a positive relationship with you and your child.

In partnership

Mr Gregg Sharman
