Year 7 students participated in a Tasmanian Aboriginal cultural day while on camp. Students begun the day at Trawmanna where they were welcomed on Country with a smoking ceremony, learning about the health benefits and cultural significance of plants used in the area. Students tasted pepperberries with stories of local tribes and Tunnerminnerwait being shared.

The next stop was West Point where knowledge sharers spoke about what life was like living on the coast, family traditions, the types of huts lived in and the day-to-day life of families, hunting and gathering. Students were shown local flora such as pig face and were able to climb the dunes where families gathered seeing artefacts which are still recognisable.

At Greens Beach, students were invited to participate in activities such as making kelp baskets, weaving, and rock art, while knowledge sharers continued sharing information, allowing students to taste the local flora and fauna from the area. Students and staff participated in all activities, with many questions asked and answered through a valuable and enriching learning opportunity.

Thank you to all students, staff and the Circular Head Aboriginal Corporation.
