140 students set off on an integrated Geography and Geology excursion to Doctors Rocks, Gutteridge Gardens and Fossil Bluff, to put into practice the theory and skills taught in the classroom this week. With booklets to complete, students had to identify, sketch and discuss a variety of rock types, as well as collect geographical data, create graphs, draw maps and communicate their findings. The WW1 War Memorial and WW2 artillery guns were also discovered, creating a lot of interest and discussion on their purpose in the history narrative of the area.

The weather was fantastic, the students enthusiastic and not a scrap of plastic left behind! The garden groundskeeper complimented staff on the conduct of the students and their commitment to keeping the area clean – the seagulls however, were not so pleased!
