Year 8 Land and Spirit Excursion to Pinmatik/Rocky Cape National Park

On Friday 30 April, Year 8 students visited Pinmatik/Rocky Cape National Park for their Global Connections unit, “Land and Spirit”. Students participated in a range of activities which were facilitated by UTAS staff/students and Working on Country Rangers.  

Discovering the biodiversity of rock pools with Jake Crisp from UTAS. Learning how biodiversity, geodiversity and geo heritage contribute to the value of a place.  

Discovering local marine life and how to manage, study, and conserve species (sea urchins and handfish) with Jenni and Ella from UTAS. 

Learning about local resources (pigface, abalone and warrener shells) with Aboriginal elder, Aunty Erica.  

Exploring cave sites, local flora species and fire ceremonies with Working on Country Rangers.
