Dear Marist Regional College Community,

As we embark on the journey of Lent, a sacred time in the Catholic tradition, it’s essential for us to reflect on what it truly means to be Catholic during this period of spiritual renewal. Lent offers us a precious opportunity for introspection, self-discipline, and growth in our faith.

What does it mean to be a Catholic in Lent?

To be Catholic in Lent is to embrace the spirit of repentance and reconciliation, seeking forgiveness for our shortcomings and striving to live more fully in alignment with the teachings of Christ. Trust me, I have plenty of failings and want to do better!

Lent is a time for prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, where we deepen our relationship with God and extend compassion and generosity to those in need.

As we engage in the practices of Lent, I invite each member of our community to reflect on how we can embody the values of love, mercy, and justice in our daily lives. Let us use this season as a time of spiritual renewal and transformation, drawing closer to God and one another.

Would you like to join the Catholic Community?

Additionally, I would like to extend an invitation to those who may be considering joining the Catholic faith. Whether you or your child are interested in exploring Catholicism further or are considering becoming Catholic, our College community is here to support you on your journey of faith.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at principal@mrc.tas.edu.au if you have any questions, or would like more information about the process. There are a number of adults and teachers at our College who have expressed interest. Why not join us?

High Impact Leadership

Last week, I spent three days working with varying groups and senior leaders in Catholic Education Tasmania. At one of these “gatherings”, was a focus on high-impact leadership, with a particular emphasis on ambition, alignment, and precision.

As leaders within our College community, it is imperative that we demonstrate a fidelity to these three core concepts.

Ambition drives us to set bold goals and pursue excellence in all that we do. Are we a College that is cruising? I think not!

Our staff work extremely hard to bring fruition a direction and a better education. I hold a concern that they need more time with their families, to exercise and maintain strong well-being.

Alignment ensures that our actions are in harmony with our mission and values, fostering unity and cohesion. Are the decisions both as a College, with our departments and year levels deliberate and aligned?

Precision demands attention to detail and a commitment to excellence in execution, ensuring that we achieve our objectives with efficiency and effectiveness.

Working as a College Advisory Board: A survey will soon be coming your way!

Furthermore, in our ongoing pursuit of excellence, I am pleased to announce that we will be collaborating with the College Advisory Board to conduct a community survey in Term Two.

This survey will provide valuable insights into the needs, aspirations, and priorities of our community, “testing” our strategic direction moving forward.

Your input and feedback will be invaluable as we strive for continual improvement and excellence in all aspects of College life.

Tasmanian Catholic Schools Parents Council

Are you interested in representing Marist Regional College at the Tasmanian Catholic Schools Parents Council? We will cover all accommodation and travel for you to attend.

The Tasmanian Catholic Schools Parents Council (TCSPC) is the Parent Representative Body that was established by His Grace Archbishop Porteous a number of years ago.  It is in place to assist Catholic School parents and children, ensuring they have voice at both a local and national level.

Please let the College know if you are interested via principal@mrc.tas.edu.au

Final Word

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to the mission and values of Marist Regional College. Together, let us journey through Lent with faith, hope, and love, as we seek to grow closer to God and one another.
