Dear Marist Regional College Families,
Senior College Exams
As we approach the crucial period of Senior College exams, I want to extend my best wishes to all students participating next week. Their hard work and dedication have brought them to this point, and I encourage students who have already begun their assessments this week. We remind them to stay focused, manage their time wisely, and approach each exam and assessment from this point with confidence.
Year 12 Graduation
Next Friday, 1 November, marks a significant milestone as we celebrate our Year 12 Graduation. This week, we have a series of key events leading up to this momentous occasion!
On Wednesday, we will hold our Internal Rating Sign Off Day, followed by the Principal’s Morning Tea and Vale Mass. Each of these events plays an essential role in acknowledging the journeys and achievements of our students. Our staff are expecting the students to continue to focus on their preparation for exams and assessments, especially with student assessment ratings being finalised.
Thursday will feature our Activities Day, and on Friday morning, we will gather for our Graduation Assembly. Clear communication has been provided to families and students regarding all requirements and expectations for students.
Advisory Board Positions for 2025
I would like to take a moment to highlight the invaluable role of our Advisory Board, which has significantly shaped the direction and success of Marist Regional College. The primary role of the Advisory Board is to serve as a “sounding board” for the College Leadership Team as ongoing development has been pursued.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working with our current Board members, who have been constructive, positive, and proactive in their approach. The College is arguably the secondary school of choice in the region and the Advisory Board have played their part in all that has been achieved.
If you are interested in contributing to our continued success, please email: principal@mrc.tas.edu.au.
Principal 2025 and Beyond
On Wednesday we received news as a community that Catholic Education Tasmania have been unable to secure a Principal for our college at this stage, commencing next year. It has been communicated that another round of advertising will now take place.
Please rest assured we will continue to communicate any developments as they arise. I look forward to collaborating with the successful applicant and assisting them in their transition into life at Marist Regional College.
Sports Awards Evening
Thanks to everyone who attended the Sports Awards on Wednesday night. Congratulations to the many award winners, and I sincerely thank the staff and volunteer coaches and coordinators who bring about the opportunities for our students and college. Sport is a significant part of the College culture, as evidenced by the emphasis placed on the evening. Special thanks to Mr Tom Lutwyche for his coordination of the evening and sport in general, along with MRC alumnus, former AFL player and Tasmanian State Coach, Maverick Weller.
Senior College Performance: Dole Diary
Last night, I had the privilege to attend the Senior College performance, Dole Diary. Well done to Isabel Thomas, Elizabeth Leaver, Dylan Withers, Miller Jackson, and Charlotte Loring for their outstanding performances. Not that I have any expertise in the performing arts space, but their skills and talents were definitely on display in front of a TASC assessment panel. Congratulations to Ms Jordan Turale and Mr Nathan Humphries at this time, along with Ms Jess Magee, for their support and encouragement of the students.
As we move through this busy time, I encourage all students, staff, and families to embrace the spirit of our community. Together, let us support one another in these final weeks of the academic year for our Senior students. At the same time, with seven weeks left in our academic year for students in Years 7-10, there is so much more to achieve – each day counts!
Thank you for your continued support.
In the way of Mary
