On Friday 8 September, 23 groups of aspiring young scientists mainly from Year 7 and 8 trekked to UTAS – Cradle Coast to participate in The Big Science Fair. 

These 23 projects were selected after internal judging in the week prior of over 100 investigations. 

It is with great pride to announce that out of our 23 entries, we had 9 entrants that were invited back for the award night and took out the following prizes:  

The 7/8 Division prizes were award to:  

  • Honourable Mention – Amelia Wickham and Mia Fehlberg with “Explosive Exercises”. 
  • Honourable Mention – Charlotte Singleton with “Sugar Rush”. 
  • 3rd place (7/8 division – Investigation) – Arlie Howard, Sana Shrestha and Tanner Hodgetts with “Tilting Towards the Sun”. 
  • 2nd place (7/8 division – Investigation) – Amy Kenney and Ayla Poke with “Busting Back Bacteria”. 
  • 1st place (7/8 division – Investigation) – Ineka Beaumont, Letesha Cox and Emie Kent with “Go with the Flow”. 
  • Equal 1st place (7/8 division – Engineering) – Olivia Wyllie, Matilda Williams and Harriet Byrne with “Strongest Structure”. 
  • Equal 1st place (7/8 division – Engineering) – Krish Singh and Grayson Ollington with “Earth Shocking Evidence). 
  • Year 11 student, Nichola Williams won the 2023 YOUNG SCIENTIST with $1000 Award from Saputo. 
  • Logan Jack Barry took out 2nd Place in the Year 9-12 Division.
