NSATIS Sport in Netball, Soccer and Hockey continue for our College teams.

For the first time, MRC has entered the Boys and Girls Volleyball competition, with both teams hosting the visiting Scotch Oakburn College for their debut games.

With both teams playing a double-header, the boys, playing with only 4 players due to sickness, were able to win both matches, defeating Scotch 1: 2-1 and Scotch 2: 2-1. The girls went down to Scotch 1: 0-2 but were able to notch their first win against Scotch 2: 2-1. Coach, Ms Johnstone was delighted with the performance of the teams, and excited about their prospects for the rest of the competition.

Other NSATIS Results

Soccer: Boys away at St Brendan Shaw 1-5, with the game not reflecting the closeness of the game, and a 1-4 loss to Launceston Christian School. The girls team had a bye, and against Launceston Christian, scored first through Grace Sims. Unfortunately, the team couldn’t capitalise on some late chance and went down 1-3.

Hockey: The boys had a tight 1-0 win over Launceston Grammar, while the girls a narrow 2-1 loss. Both teams will return to Launceston to play Scotch Oakburn next week.

Netball: The 1sts and 2nds teams have both started with a win and a loss, going down to Launceston Grammar, but both having strong wins and bragging rights over coastal rival St Brendan Shaw.

The BNA Spring Netball grading starts this weekend with a gala day. There are a massive 81 students across nine MRC teams entered into the mixed roster. Best of luck to all students who are playing in the roster.

Girls from Years 9 and 10 took part in the NWJFU Gala Day on Thursday – with a few injuries and sickness across the team, our MRC girls gave it their all. Across four games played, MRC finished in second place with 3 wins and 1 narrow loss to Burnie High School. Olivia Pringle, Tulley Gillam and Oceania Eustace among the best players. A big thank you to coach Ms Shania Saward, Mrs Renee French and the Senior College Sports Coaching students who assisted with coaching and umpiring throughout the day!

The NSATIS (Launceston) and SATIS (Hobart) Swimming Carnivals will take place in week 7 and 8 of Term 3. The team is selected based on results from the Term 1 MRC Carnival and selection will be communicated to students next week.
