Term 3 SATIS Sport wrapped up with the Boys Hockey hosting Guilford Young College in the SATIS final.

With the game being played at McKenna Park, the visiting Guilford Young College (GYC) team proved too strong for the home team, winning 9-0. However, the MRC team can be proud of their efforts with coach Ms Helen Byrne saying she was very impressed with the effort and endeavour of the team against a highly credentialed GYC team, which was full of Tasmanian Junior State players. Marist was able to create several goal scoring opportunities, but unfortunately, were not able to beat the GYC goalkeeper who made some excellent saves. Best players for Marist were Brayden Hine, Tyson Johnson and Hunter Dwyer.

The inaugural NSATIS Volleyball entries from MRC completed their competition recently with both teams putting in exceptional performances throughout the roster. The Girls team finished in 3rd place on the ladder, with the Boy’s finishing 4th, but were right up in final contention until the final round of matches.

Soccer Girls finished their NSATIS season in 4th place as they were unable to finish their season, whilst the Girls Hockey team finished 2nd, having drawn their final game against Launceston Grammar 2-2. Thank you to all NSATIS and SATIS Swimming representatives for their understanding around the College’s participation in the recent carnivals. We look forward to the team returning to the swimming events in 2024.

The North-West division of the State High School Netball Championships took place in Ulverstone last week, with MRC teams performing admirably. The 7/8 Girls narrowly lost the final to local rival Burnie High School 10 – 12. The 7/8 Boys lost a thriller in extra time to Penguin District 10-9. The 9/10 Girls also lost a tight final in extra time to Burnie High School 13 – 12. All teams have progressed through to the State Finals which will be held in Ulverstone and Devonport in Term 4.

Term 4 opportunities are being finalised with the NSATIS T20 Cricket tournament, Boys and Girls High School Basketball Championships, Lawn Bowls and the High School Triathlon event, as well as the rescheduled 7/8 Girls NWJFU Grand Final.
