Last Thursday, our Packages of Learning students participated in a work exposure and on-site opportunity delivered by Hydro Tasmania at Woolnorth Wind Farm.

The day began with an overview of the renewable energy industry in Tasmania, history and facts about the wind farm, and career path opportunities available to students.

This was followed by guided tours of the Bluff Point and Woolnorth Wind farms where students had the opportunity to inspect wind turbines up close including inside the base structures, transmission yards, workshops, and control centres housing enormous and sophisticated machinery and parts required for service and maintenance of the turbines.

Packages of Learning students and teachers wish to extend their sincere thanks to Jason Jolly of Woolnorth Wind farms for facilitating this awesome opportunity to engage with the renewables industry and to network regarding future work experience opportunities.
