Dear Marist Regional College Community,

As we embark on another exciting year here at Marist Regional College, it is with great pleasure that we extend a warm welcome to our almost 900 students, both returning and new, as well as our dedicated staff members, including the many new faces joining our dynamic team. I am so pleased with our recruitment of firstly, great characters, their level of skill and expertise.

Embracing the Value of Respect

As a community, we uphold the Marist value of respect, and our first assembly of the year was a poignant reminder of this core principle. We encourage all members of our community to embody respect in their interactions, fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone feels valued and heard. Again, I have challenged everyone that respect is a bare minimum for us with love being the ultimate goal for all of us.

Celebrating Student Success

The recent Evening of Excellence was a testament to the outstanding achievements of our students in both citizenship and academic excellence throughout 2023. We are immensely proud of their accomplishments, the obstacles overcome throughout their journey, and look forward to witnessing their continued growth and success in the year ahead.

Materials, Design and Technology: Capital Works Project

We are thrilled to announce our major capital works project for 2024: the development of a new technology centre focusing on Materials, Design, and Technology. This state-of-the-art facility will provide our students with innovative learning spaces to explore and develop their skills in these crucial areas.

This year, the College will be pursuing a review of our Capital Works Strategic Plan (2015-2025) and creating a new direction for the next ten years.

Launch of Our MRC Strategic Direction 2024-2027

We are pleased to announce the launch of Marist Regional College’s Strategic Direction for 2024-2027. This comprehensive plan outlines our vision, goals, and initiatives for the next three years, guiding us towards continued growth and excellence. The College’s Strategic Direction has been created over the course of 2023, as a consequence of our most recent College community Validation Report provided to the College at the conclusion of 2021.

Ongoing College Improvement

As part of our ongoing commitment to college improvement, throughout 2024 we will be periodically providing the community with short surveys covering various aspects of our school life.

Your feedback on our a) Catholic Identity, b) Learning, c) Leadership, d) Pastoral Care and Well-Being, as well as e) Stewardship and Resources, will help us better understand the needs and aspirations of our community, guiding our efforts towards continuous enhancement. We will be undertaking our own analysis internally and gauging whether the assumptions we have founded to be aligned, or otherwise, with community perceptions.

Thank you for your participation in shaping the future of our college. Together, we strive for excellence.

Welcoming New Additions

We extend a warm welcome to our new students, including those arriving from overseas, as they join our vibrant community. Your unique perspectives and experiences enrich our college, and we look forward to getting to know each of you.

Observing Ash Wednesday

We recently commemorated Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of Lent, with a reflective service in the morning. This important observance reminds us of the significance of self-reflection, repentance, and spiritual renewal as we journey towards Easter.

Gratitude to SRC

We extend our gratitude to our Student Representative Council (SRC) for their leadership in organising activities for Shrove Tuesday. Their dedication to fostering our Catholic identity, and a sense of community engagement, is truly commendable.

As we embark on this new academic year, I am personally buoyed by the level of positivity that is shared within our community. Everyone is encouraged to embrace the opportunities for growth, learning, and community building that lie ahead. Together, we will continue to uphold the values that define our Marist Regional College family and create a positive and enriching environment for all.
