It hasn’t taken long for our Visual Art students to get stuck into some artist research and practical experimentation.

Year 8 students from the Drawing, Ceramics, Printmaking elective have completed their first study: a chalk pastel drawing inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s The Haystacks. The challenging medium presented significant challenges but produced some lovely results.

This little exhibition which is displayed in the Student Services foyer demonstrates a good eye for composition, rich texture, and some excellent colour layering, mixing, and matching. What a great way to build confidence and hone those observation skills! We are looking forward to what the students produce in their major artworks and projects.
