VET Certificate II in Animal Care students are gaining industry insights into real world understanding about the care for animals.

A recent full day trip to Wings Wildlife Park allowed students to consider enrichment activities for animals, which were diverse and specific to individual and group needs. There was a 4-hour tour, which focused on risk assessments for staff, customers, and its animals. Students contributed to the well-being and maintenance of animals by learning about the meerkat enclosure and Blinky’s food needs (the one and only koala living on the premises). Exposure to multiple and different types of animals helped students strengthen their understanding about food needs and requirements. Enclosures for animals were discussed as well as maintaining animals’ nutritional and dietary needs.

The day was an incredibly rewarding learning experience for students. Wings Wildlife offered work placement opportunities for students interested in pursuing a career in the Animal Care Industry.
