Certificate II in Hospitality
Isabella recently completed the full Certificate II in Hospitality over two years in the Cradle Coast Trade Training Centre. She has worked the full rounds of the Café, in four different stations and has developed a wide range of skills during her time enrolled in this VET course. Isabella originally started with a quiet and polite disposition, and it has been a pleasure to see her gain the confidence and competence in different areas, such as problem-solving customer issues, organising orders for Year 10 students – cold beverages to make. Isabella has run the Café pass with incredible quiet confidence, communicating with other members of the team with respect and inclusivity. She has strengthened her employability skills by working over 60 rostered shifts in Café 9 and has taken part in internal functions as well. Hard work and effort have paid off. Well done Isabella, teaching and training has been a privilege with you in our crew!
Master Builders Association (MBA) – Tasmania
Last Friday, I organised a Building and Construction presentation for Year 9 – 12 students interested in this career pathway. Matthew Scrimgeour who is the Apprentice Program Manager for MBA came along with a third-year apprentice and discussed pathways to numerous and different occupations within the construction sector. Apprenticeships were discussed and Matthew highlighted some helpful tips and points about interview processes, i.e. what employers are looking for and ways to get into a School-Based Apprenticeship. Over 70 students came along to the informative session. For future reference for our students, the PowerPoint presentation has been placed in the Subject Selection Information Page under Certificate II in Construction. It was an eye opener for many students and feedback suggests that it was worthy, while increasing students’ understanding and awareness of this industry.
An increase in VET courses on offer in 2021 and beyond, saw many interested students visit the CCTTC on Wednesday, 5 August for the Subject Advice Night. It was a fabulous opportunity to meet with parents/guardians, families and students. There was a high volume of students interested in enrolling in introductory courses in Year 10, and students considering either a full or part qualification in Senior College VET courses. All VET programs have been put on MEL for ease of access for students and families. Each VET course has further information about career pathways, apprenticeship opportunities, the TCE, videos and viewpoints from people working in each professional area. It is highly informative and will give students the opportunity to consider a course with greater depth of understanding to help them make informed decisions.
I am also available at the College to discuss any course further. Please do not hesitate to contact me at the College.
